College Admission
The Bachelor of Science degree program in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (BS MBB) provides a well-rounded undergraduate education that is particularly suited to future careers in research and teaching, in both academic and industrial settings. The BS MBB program currently admits 60 students per year, taken from the top qualifiers in the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT).
A student is required to complete at least 153 units of undergraduate courses, which includes completing an undergraduate research project.
For more information on undergraduate admissions, please visit the University of the Philippines System’s website.
Application deadline for shifting or transferring to the MBB undergraduate program for AY 2022-2023 is on 30 June 2022.
Prospective students who want to transfer or shift to the undergraduate MBB program need to fulfill the following requirements:
- Cumulative Weighted Average of Grades of 1.75 or better for students within the UP System and CWAG of 1.50 for students outside UP System.
- Preferably with at least 15 units of subject courses under Math, Physics, Chemistry and Nat Sci with a weighted average of 1.80 or better.
Shiftees and transferees are accepted during the first semester only. Please note that the number of transferees and shiftees approved for admission varies every year and is limited to the number of available slots per batch.
Undergraduate students must maintain a weighted average of 2.50 or better in Natural Science and Mathematics (NSM) subjects and a cumulative weighted average grade of 2.25 or better to be retained in the program. Failure to do so would put the student in academic probation with program continuation subject to the approval of the academic committee.
